Q

Why did Anne’s plans to raise money in January of 1648 backfire?

A
  • calling a lit de justice seemed unfair as Louis XIV was so young - illegal bullying?
  • Mazarin could not offer aid as he was at war
  • royal judges condemned the edicts and called them unlawful

  • Mole did not refuse to register these edicts but rather had magistrates constantly amend them which made them unviable
