What is natural selection?
The process where traits of a species are eliminated or made more common, changing the species.
What is genetic drift?
Random events that can dramatically alter the gene pool, such as a tsunami killing multiple of a species and possibly erasing several traits.
What is variation?
Many different alleles and phenotypes in a gene pool.
What is fitness?
The amount of offspring a member of a species has
What is an adaptation?
A trait that starts as a mutation in a species becoming more common because it helps that species survive in an environment.
What are the five fingers of evolution?
Mutation, movement, mating, natural selection, and population
How are genetic drift and natural selection alike and different?
Both may cause an allele in a species to not exist. Genetic drift is a random process, natural selection is specific.
