SK threatened Nk with border conflicts/clashes
why was SK only lightly armed?
USA did not trust sigmund rhee as he was very aggresive
How did USA get involved in the conflict?
Through the United Nations, and they provided troops led by general macarthur.
what was the role of the UN in the Korean War?
maintain global security, peace and prevent conflict as well as contain communism on a global scale.
what would USSR gain from the Korean War? (why they gave permission to NK to attack)
They wanted to expand communism, and protect NK.
Why did China join the war?
Macarthur, managed to push very close to the Yalu river, which is very near to China.
How did the Korean War end?
Both sides signed an armistice in 1953 to end the fighting.
What did the nsc68 say?
It said that there was potential for the Soviet union to grow in nuclear capability and that there was a need for an increase in USA’s military capability.
