What is de-linking?

A

Delinking is where BPS payments can still be received even if you don’t occupy the land. Farmers don’t need to continue farming to receive BPS payments for the remainder of the transition period. Payments to be delinked between 2024 - 2027 after BPS stops in 2023.

What is the lump-sum exit scheme?

A

The lump sum exit pays applicants their future BPS money upfront in return for surrendering and transferring out their land.

Payments are calculated on average payments x2.35 however are limited to £100k

Aims to encourage farmers to retire and new generation of farmers to emerge.

What is cross-compliance?

A

A statutory set of rules that farmers must follow in order to receive their subsidy payments. Made up of Statutory Management Regulations (SMR) and Good Agricultural and Environmental Conditions (GAEC).

I set out the property, the client, the value of the land acquired, the crop (rye-grass lay) cost of crop loss (decreasing value over 4 years) I set out disturbance costs, severance and Injurious affection, betterment, payment of fees

A

Schedule 16 provides operators with the ability to take temporary possession of a working strip, required in order to carry out construction or maintenance works. This is set out under the High Speed Rail Act 2017.

What is an NVZ?

A

An NVZ is a conservation designation set by the Environment Agency and limits the input of nitrogen based products onto the land - whereby doing so could cause pollution of the watercourse.
