Q

Medial Cerebral Artery (MCA)

A

Most associated with strokes that affect sensation/motor intervention to the head, upper limbs and trunk on the contralateral side
Could also affect speech if Broca’s or Wernicke’s area is involved

Supplies the Lateral surface via cortical branches
Supplies the Basal ganglia (putaman and Globus Pallidus via lenticular-striate arteries

Q

Anterior Cerebral Artery (ACA)

A

Most associated with strokes that affect sensation/motor intervention to the Lower extremities

Supplies medial surface via cortical branches
Supplies the caudate head via recurrent artery of Heubner

16
Q

Spinal Cord Arterial Blood Supply

A

Extrinsic arteries
- Segmental spinal arteries
— Radicular
— Anterior longitudinal
— Posterior longitudinal
Intrinsic arteries

17
Q

Spinal cord Anterior/Posterior damage

A

Posterior Spinal artery damage - DCML
Anterior Spinal artery damage - CST or ALS

18
Q

Venous Drainage

A

External veins
- Superior sagittal sinus
- Right transverse
- Sigmoid
- Internal jugular
Internal
- Inferior sagittal, straight, left transverse

Increased pressure = Increased drainage issues
