A

SAD PERSONS

Sex: male (increased risk of COMPLETED suicide) - females ↑ risk of ATTEMPTED suicide

Age: advancing age (>45yrs)

Depression (and BPD)

PREVIOUS SUICIDE ATTEMPT (MOST IMPORTANT RF)

Ethanol/substance abuse (illicit/prescription drugs)

Rational thought loss (psychosis)

Sick: Chronic illness, Cancer

Organised plan

No spouse/ social support (widowed, single, no kids)

Hx of sexual assault
FHx of suicide
Hx of aggressive behaviour
PMHx of psychiatric problems (Schizophrenia, Psychosis, BPD)
