1. THE REBELS
= most visible but influential group, resisted school develop anti school subculture. high value on truancy lateness bad beh, offers opppotuinity to gain status (black matcho lad)

  1. THE CONFORMISTS
    =largest group. keen to succeed avoided being part of subculture or labelled by teachers
  2. THE RETREATISTS
    =tiny minority. disconnect from school/subcultures despised rebels
  3. THE INNOVATORS
    =2nd largest, pro education but anti school. valued success but dint seek approval from teachers & avoided conformists to maintain credibility to rebels.
