Define diffusion.
A
The spreading out of particles from an area of higher concentration to an area of lower concentration until they are evenly spread out.

In which state of matter do particles diffuse fastest? Why?
A
Gas. Because it will colllide with fewer particles in a gas than a liquid.

State 3 examples of diffusion.
A
Sugar in coffee. Teabags in hot water. Air freshner being diffused with the air.

Do particles diffuse faster in hot or cold water? Why?
A
Hot. Because in hot water, particles will have more kinetic energy, (and therefore move faster) and therefore they diffuse faster in hot water than in cold.
