Q

List two strengths that support the role of the father.

A

Geiger found that fathers play interactions are more pleasurable and exciting than the mothers.
Lamb found that children preferred interaction with their fathers when in a positive state, and would seek out their mothers when distressed.

Hardy also found that fathers are less able to detect low levels of distress in infants than mothers.
HOWEVER, Lamb found that single fathers could quickly adapt.
