Understanding and wisdom, it is called INSIGHT MEDITATION because they do it to get insight into the true nature of reality and they reflect on the three marks of existence (annicca, anatta and dukkha).

Mindfulness meditation because it helps with stress and depression. Buddhists say that although they are happy about it, they say that Buddha taught that wisdom comes from a way of life that involves ETHICS as well as meditation.
