Will precede all transmissions of extreme importance TO EMERGENCY OPERATIONS OR FIREFIGHTER safety. COmmand/dispatch will give an alert tone and repeat the message
Emergency traffic
Upon notification that a ____ is being conducted, all company officers and division/group supervisors shall account for and physically verify the location and condition of all of their assigned personnel
PAR
Term used to indicate missing, trapped or injured fire personnel in need of immediate assistance or rescue. Should be repeated three times
MAYDAY
Term used to direct fire companies or crews operating in the hazard zone to immediately exit to a safety zone. Exit immediately only with tools that will help with egress. This is initiated with emergency traffic and accompanied by single 10 second blast of air horns. PAR will then be taken
Abandon
Emergency traffic to exit to a safety zone taking equipment
withdraw
Term used to direct removal of civilians who are exposed or potentially exposed to hazards presented by the incident
Evacuate
Pre-designated area for uncommitted apparatus. Normally used on greater alarms or complex incidents
Base
Forward gathering area where personnel and EQT are assigned for immediate response. Standing by hydrant, waiting for PD, or two floors below fire on HR
Staging
Term used to request police if in danger. It is considered Priority 1 and more than one unit will respond
Code Red
Term used by dispatch or the first arriving unit to command radio silence by all units in order to transmit urgent message
“clear the air”
Term used by command to temporarily stop all incident operations to listen for lost or trapped victims. It will be initiated with Emergency Traffic
Cease operations-all quiet
Term used by Dispatch or another unit to relay info that should be overheard by the patient or others at the scene. Company will answer with affirmative or negative
Are you able
This command stays in effect until command opens talkgroup back up for routine ops. Term used by command to halt all non-critical info on a specific talkgroup.
