Fear conditioning

A

Fear elicited by cure or context in which it’s been previouslyu given. Startle reflex and skin conductance responses (SCRs) are used in testing. Amygdala is res[onsible for acquisition. Stimuli bypass thalamus.

A

Fear responses must be revised to take away stress horemones. If this fails (emotional preservation) it’s a hallmark of anxiety

Relies on the ventromedial prefrontal cortex (vmPFC), influences activity in the amygdala

A

Fear of a place is conditioned. Relies on hippocampus (memory). Amnesia patient can’t be conditioned like this
