Q

in type 2 diabetes

A

the body stops responding to normal or even high levels of insulin, and over time, the pancreas doesn’t make enough insulin, calls don’t respond to the receptors, and it doesn’t get in. Gluocse remains in the blood.

Q

insulin

A
  • the cells can’t use the sugar (glucose) without insulin, which is made in the pancreas
  • it stimulates cells throughout the body to take glucose out of the bloodstream
  • major target celsl are found in the livefr, skeletal muscles, and fat tissue
  • prevents the level of glucose in teh blood from rising too rapidly and ensures teh axcess glucose is stored for future use

Q

glucagon

A
  • withing 1-2 hours after a person has eaten, when the level of blood glucose drops, glucagon is released from the pancreas
