A

 Check tray list and disassemble if required
 Prepare medical device for cleaning (as per manufacturer)
 Pre-cleaning method can be used if directed by manufacturer

A

to reduce the number of viable microorganisms on the device to a level appropriate for further handling

What does the SHTM mention about sterilisation

A

 All medical devices used for invasive procedures should be sterilized
 Sterilization by steam using a porous load sterilizer is the preferred method
 Each cycle should be monitored and reviewed and formally accepted as satisfactory before releasing them back
