Q

Explain how the Kibbutz can be considered one of Vardimon’s major influences

A

-this is where she was born and raised, the community that she grew up in. Children were kept separate from their parents for most of the day and there was equality between men and women in the roles that they would do in the community. Children had a lot of independence and self regulation. This is where Vardimon learnt the quote “with freedom comes responsibility” which is evident throughout her works in the sense of how she addresses sensitive topics.

Q

Explain how her time working in military service is a major influence on her works

A

-all students had to do 2 years of service once leaving school, and it was through this that she came to work as a psychological interviewer, ensuring individuals were mentally fit to serve. This is how she became so interested in society and was a naturally enquiring individual and how people tell stories about their life because everyone does it in a different way.
