pattern of thinking, feeling and behaving that remains constant over time
What is the five factor model?
openness, conscientiousness, extraversion, agreeableness and neuroticism
What is a personality disorder?
personality that is different from cultural expectations and causes distress
What are the 3 p’s in personality disorders?
problematic, persuasive and persistent
What are the gender differences in PD?
antisocial personality is more common in males and borderline personality is more common in females
How many cluster of personalities are there?

What is a Cluster A personality?
odd and eccentric, includes paranoid and schizo personalities
What is a Cluster B personality?
dramatic, emotional and erratic, includes antisocial personality and BPD
What is a Cluster C personality?
anxious and fearful, includes dependent and avoidant personalities

Problems with a personality disorder diagnosis
people meet the criteria for more than one diagnosis, cannot agree on the type of personality, researchers cannot agree on a categorical system
What is a psychological map in personality disorders?
made for patients with MP that are tailored and unique to them rather than a general diagnosis
What is borderline personality disorder?
cluster B disorder that has a persuasive instability in relationships and self-image
When do most cases of BPD start?
early childhood
