What was the procedure of Baumgartner et al.
Social “trust game” was played by participants were scanned via a fMRI and were administered oxytocin or a placebo using nasal spray. In the game participants act as investors with different trustees in several rounds of the game. Then the participants were asked to play a risk game playing the same thing but against a computer. Participants were given feedback halfway through the game indicating that about 50% of their decisions resulted in poor investment and their trust was broken.

What is the “Trust game”?
An (player 1) investor decides whether they will keep a sum of money or share it with (player 2) the trustee. If this sum is shared then the investment will triple. The trustee will then decide whether or not to pay back the trust splitting it equally or betray the trust by keeping all the money

Experimental continued to invest similar rates even after they were given feedback
