Q

How does the climate affect farming and agriculture?

A

The high latitude and cold arctic winds from the Arctic Ocean make farming impossible in the tundra of far north Russia. Little grows in tundra due to the permafrost (permanently frozen ground). South of the tundra, the taiga (evergreen forest) is also too cold for farms. Farming is in the fertile soil of the steppes in the south and southwest.
