Cérons AOC
Location: Situated between Sauternes & Graves. (Left bank)
Known for: Produces reasonably priced sweet wines with some botrytis effected grapes.
Graves de Vayres AOC
Location: North of Entre-duex-Mers immediately opposite of Côte de Fronsac & St-Emilion. (Between the rivers)
Known for: Produced good quality red and white wines from Bordeaux varieties. The wines are permitted to use up to 30% Merlot Blanc.
Lalande de Pomerol AOC
Location: North of Pomerol (Right Bank)
Known For: Larger than Pomerol, produces fruit red wines of lesser quality.
Fronsac AOC
Location: West of Pomerol (Right Bank)
Known for: Produces fruity reds, similar to Pomerol and St-Emilion but of lesser quality.
St Croix du Mont AOC
Location: Within Entre-Deux-Mers Region, across the Garonne from Sauternes and Barsac.
Known for: Sweet wines in similar style to Sauternes and Barsac, but generally lesser quality. Must contain some botrytized grapes.
Cadillac AOC
Location: Within Entre-Deux-Mers Region, across the Garonne from Sauternes and Barsac.
Known for: Sweet wines in similar style to Sauternes and Barsac, but generally lesser quality. Must contain some botrytized grapes.
Loupiac AOC
Location: Within Entre-Deux-Mers Region, across the Garonne from Sauternes and Barsac.
Known for: Sweet wines in similar style to Sauternes and Barsac, but generally lesser quality. Must contain some botrytized grapes.
Sainte-Foy-Bordeaux AOC
Location: Small district on the very boundary of Bordeaux, in the north eastern corner of Entre-Deux-Mers bordering Bergerac.
Known for: Sweet and dry whites with an equal amount of red wines from the Bordeaux varieties.
Entre-Deux-Mers AOC
Translation: ‘Between two seas’
Location: Situated in-between the Rivers of Garonne & Dordogne.
Known For: Most extensive district of Bordeaux. Only the dry whites are sold under EDM AOC produce mainly form Sauvignon Blanc.
Reds made are sold as Bordeaux AOC.
Number of smaller AOC for high quality sweet wines which have been effected by Botrytis.
Premières Côtes de Bordeaux AOC
Location: Long narrow strip on the Northern side of the Garrone, opposite Graves. (EDM)
Known for: Produces Sweet / Dry whites and red wines.
Red wines produced in the north (no where near the quality level of the medoc).
Dry whites in the centre
Sweet white wines in the south opposite Cérons Barsac & Sauternes.
Blaye-Côtes de Bordeaux AOC
Location: Right bank, north of the Gironde estuary opposite the Medoc.
Known for: Specialises in dry whites produced from Colombard, Ugni Blanc & Sauvignon Blanc.
Also produces red from Bordeaux varieties with Merlot being dominant.
