> Green Book recommends 3m between doses. 1m adequate if child >10yrs. In an urgent situation (e.g. outbreak at child’s school), a shorter period of 1m can be used in younger children.

What are contraindications to the MMR vaccine?

A
  • Severe immunosuppression
  • Allergy to neomycin
  • Children who have received another live vaccine by injection within 4 weeks
  • Pregnancy should be avoided for at least 1 month following vaccination
  • Immunoglobulin therapy within the past 3 months

Adverse affects of the MMR vaccine?

A
  • Malaise
  • Fever
  • Rash
    > Typically occurs after 5-10 days and lasts around 2-3 days

A

According to chronological age:

  • No correcting for gestational age
  • Babies born <28 weeks gestation should receive their first set of immunisations at hospital due to risk of apnoea
