Create in me a clean heart, O God, And renew a steadfast spirit within me.
If we will draw strength from God, we will win victory after victory, but if we try in our own strength, we will endlessly fall defeated and become worn out by vain effort.
Victory is sure when self is surrendered to God!

The surrender of all our powers to God greatly simplifies the problem of life. It weakens and cuts short a thousand struggles with the passions of the natural heart.
What happens if we aren’t connected to God?

Unless vitally connected with God, we can never resist self-love and temptation to sin. We may for a season put away bad habits, but without moment by moment surrender to Christ and a continual communion, we are at the mercy of the enemy, and shall do his bidding in the end.

By unwavering self-denial, by constant watchfulness, by intense prayer, by the determined use of every means of grace, by the help of Jesus, we will be victorious!
How do I surrender to God so I can overcome self?
Surrendering our will is more than telling God to take it. It’s an active, continual transaction on our part. Moment by moment we say, Lord, here is my will, it is yours, I want Your will to be done in me.
When you have completed this transaction of the will, you will have answered the question, “how do I surrender to God”.
