What is attachment?
An emotional link between an infant and caregiver, feeling more secure when there is a presence of the attachment figure

Proximity

What is proximity in relation to attachment?
People try and stay physically close to those they are attached to
What is separation distress?
People are distressed when an attachment figure leaves their presence
What is secure base behaviour?
We always “touch base” with our attachment figure regularly to return to their attachment
What is interactional synchrony?
Caregiver and infant respond in time to keep going, their actions mirror each others
EG smiling at the same time
