PANEL would be displayed in the active frequency window and FAIL would be displayed in the standby frequency window.

Q.4.9 How does the stuck microphone alarm work?
When the VHF radio detects a microphone is in transmit (keyed) position for longer than 30 seconds, an interrupted side tone is emitted for 5 seconds via the audio selector panel. After a total of 35 seconds, the transmitter and the side tone are turned off. The transmitter is reactivated by releasing and then re-keying the microphone or boom microphone Push-To-Talk switch.
What effect does the PTT switch or MASK-BOOM switch have on the flight deck hand microphones?
None, the MASK-BOOM and/or PTT switches does not affect the operation of the hand microphones.
Q.4.11 When using the PTT switch are the overhead speakers muted?
Yes, the two flight compartment speakers are muted for the Captain’s and First Officer’s push-to-talk microphone operation.
