Q

What are the 5 main properties of the muscular system?

A

Excitable or irritable: capable of receiving stimulation and responding to it through nerves

Contractible: capable of contracting and relaxing after receiving stimulation

Extensible: able to stretch without getting damaged

Elastic: able to retain original state after being stretched

Adaptability: can change and adapt under different circumstances (e.g., getting stronger or wasting away)

Q

What are the types of muscle movements?

A

Adduction: movement of a body to mid-line of body

Abduction: opposite of abduction

Flexion: bending of a muscle to decrease angle between two bones

Extension: opposite of flexion

Q

What are the 3 types of muscles?

A

Heart muscle: involuntary, helps heart pump blood

Q

What would happen to the muscles in your body if your nervous system can’t send signal?

A

All your muscles wouldn’t be able to function except for the cardiac muscle as it has its own electrical cells to keep if functional
