What is the definition of excretion?
The process of removing waste products from the body.
Which systems are normally are involved in excretion?
Respiratory system (lungs), Urinary system (kidneys), and the integumentary system (skin).
What is the function of the kidneys?
The kidneys store urine until it is sent down to the bladder. They contain nephrons that filter substances. Kidneys also help regulate the water balance of the body.
What and how does the skin excrete?
The skin sweats to remove some water, salts and small amounts of urea.
Why does water balance in the body need to be regulated?
Water influences the concentration of the blood and other substances in it.
What role does the liver have in excretion?
It breaks down toxins and breaks down excessive amino acids.
