What are Non-mechanical systems and there components

A

Non-mechanical systems do the exacted thing mechanical ones do. The only difference is that mechanical systems have convert belts and machines where Non-mechanical systems have humans, books, tools, organization, etc.. For example a school system has the principal, teachers, students, and textbooks. These are also know as the components of a system as without them, the system wouldn’t work

Why do systems require organization ( give an example)

A

systems require organization as without it, a non-mechanical system for example wouldn’t function properly. For exam-le, the transportation system needs bus routes and schedules or else it wouldn’t be efficent

How do systems develop from a need, do we ever need to improve these systems (give and example)

A

A need is something required by people. It helps make life better for them. These systems are the school or transportation system for example. Eventually these systems become overwelled and we need to make a new one or upgrade it to the consumers need - a individual who uses the goods and services of a system.
For example, over the years more families needed better health care for children and eventual when there were so many kids, we made a child care system to better fit the needs of children

How do we keep our systems working efficiently? ( what two things do we use)

A

We keep our systems efficient in two ways - we provide the needed instructions and support needed for the system.
- For example, when you receive a new computer it comes with instructions to set it up and begin it. These usually come in the form of an instruction manual
- For example, if the same new computer starts to have problems that the instruction manual doesn’t have a fix for, there is usually a costumer support or a tech support system to repair your devise and or fix it

A

A consumer is an individual who uses the goods and services of a system. all our systems usually revolve around the needs and wants of a consumer

A

In this lab we learned how everything in our system revolves around consumers. Even if its not clear components lead to other components leading to the consumer eventually.

A

Productivity is the amount of output that is produced per unit of time. Increasing productive makes accomplishing a task faster

How have we been increasing productivity (Examples)

A

We have been making systems designed to increase productivity…
- For example before we dug tunnels with simple machines, but now we have designed systems made to dig them more efficiently than before
These systems include both mechanical and non-mechanical parts
- For example, a auto checkout for the library includes the machine itself as well as instructions on a piece of paper near or on it

Do we use mass production, what effects does it have on our products

A

For a while now, we have been mass producing all our products using convert belts and machines instead of only human workers. The problem with this is that the more product and efficient our production becomes, the less quality is put into these objects

What is an automated system and what are examples of one

A

An automated system replaces human workers completely with machines controlled by computers. These systems can run without human intervention.
- An example of this is a thermostat that adjusts the heat / cool depending on your preferences, the outdoor temperature, and the indoor temperature to give you the best temperature in your house

What is the impact of automation ( societal, environmental, and economical )

A

The rise of automation has taken over our life’s and because of this has had a impact on our lives
- Socially, a lot of jobs have been replaced by computers and machines, but a lot of jobs have also opened up to repair and manage these machines

  • Economically, automation grants company’s more money has there are very productive but affects there money gained as they are a lot to maintain
  • Environmentally, automation such as assembly lines require a lot of power, which powering them causes the planets recourses to fade quicker, though some systems like the automatic pollution control in cars is helpful to the environment as that system reduces the amount of harmful substances that come out of cars

when do we re-assess our systems (mention society)

A

We re-assess our systems when society changes. When society changes, a need changes. this leads to some systems not being needed. This leads to developers either improving the system or creating a new system.

What is the criteria to evaluate a system ( criteria, quantitively assessment, qualitive assessment )

A

Criteria are standard rules to tests on which a decision or judgment can be based. To assess systems developers often use the following criteria…
- how does this system effect Efficiency, safety, cost,
the environment (environmental impact)
Each of these criteria’s can be assessed quantality or qualitatively
- Quantitative assessment involves exact measurements and numbers.
(Ex - the tree is 10 feet tall)
- Qualitative assessment involves observations and guesses
(Ex - The tree is as tall as my house)
