Augustine on Baptism

A

He said we were seminally present during ‘ the fall ‘ so were still being punished for it.
So if an infant died, they could go to hell. He said original sin wouldn’t be washed away, but original guilt could be. He called it the sacrament of regeneration.

Q

What do Baptists believe about baptism

A

Credobaptism- Adult Baptism. Jesus was an adult when baptised. He said to make “ disciples of all nations “ and his own disciples were adults who had been personally taught the faith by jesus. Both Catholics and Baptists believe it is a permanent alteration to the soul, so Baptists believe its unethical to baptise an infant without knowledge or understanding or consent.
