Situated Analysis

A

Identity is more spread out - an individual’s identities can intersect to create marginalisation as well as privilege. Relates to all people, not just minorities. Through SA lens of intersectionality, capitalism is incidentally discriminatory as it exploits whomever possible to generate profit.

Neoliberalism

A

A type of economic liberalism that favours a global free market, without government regulation, with businesses & industry controlled and run for profit by owners

Social -> Negative impacts on social inequality as taxes lowered for high earners and increased bargaining power of employers makes for harsh environment for the working class
Heath -> Negative impacts on health inequality as benefit eligibility and funding was reduced making it harder for those needing benefits to access health. Employer bargaining power - harsh employee environment, low SEP, poor access to health care.

Keynesianism

A

Combination of economic & social policies as a response to the GD which increased tax rates for the rich, and used tariffs in trade to support a productive local economy

Social -> Had positive impacts on social inequality through using progressive taxation to even the distribution of wealth as well as tariffs to aid local economic growth
Health -> Had positive impacts on health inequality as distribution of wealth means a less steep social gradient and more universal access to health care
