Computed tomography (CAT scan) is used to assess the density, displacement of abnormality of the ventricular system and gray and white matter.

A patient slips, falls and cuts her arm in the clinic. The cut is bleeding and the patient is alert and well oriented. In performing first aid for the patient, the FIRST action that the PT should take is to:

A. Infection control requires that the wound not be contaminated further, and that the health care workers protect themselves from disease by avoiding contact with body fluids. In this case, the patient does not appear to be in life threatening danger, and so the wound should be attended to. Therefore, checking the patient’s blood pressure would not be the first ting to do.
Once the gloves are donned, cleaning the wound and covering it with a sterile dressing would be appropriate.
