Adults –> from drugs

of the few who get rashes from meds about 95% of these will get morbilliform
What is the timeline for morbilliform?
appears ~1-2 wks after starting drug and can be up to 1 wk after stopping
very rare for a drug that you have been taking for several months or years
Where is the most common place for morbilliform?
usually found on the trunk and spreads to the limbs/neck
What is the timeline for morbilliform after stopping the drug?
It should improve by 48 hrs and clear after 1 wk
When to refer skin rashes?
if there is pus or blisters refer and stop the drug!
What is another name of urticarial rash?
hives
Describe the phototoxic reaction
fast onset
looks like a sunburn
When will phototoxic reactions clear up?
Once the drug is discontinued has cleared from the body –> worsening sun reactions
Describe photoallergic reactions
rare
body saying its allergic + UV radiation –> eczema like tend to be chronic
Are photoallergic reactions more common with oral or topical medication?
