involves team members working independently to create discipline-specific care plans that are implemented similtaneoulsy, but without explicit regard to their interaction
why are disciplinary approaches important?
they can help avoid risk averse thinking by weighing up the risk against benefits for the patient
can improve patients outcomes, healthcare processes and level of satisfaction. it can also avoid duplication of assessments
