A
  1. Importance of ensuring design and building regs compliancy when proposing alternative or VE options. Even where a subcontractor may offer an equal of approved option - due diligence must be undertaken to ensure the proposal meets requirements and is fit for purpose.
  2. Linked to acting ethically - do not put anything in writting that you would not be comfortable if was read out in public in a court of law. Be clear in all communication - internally & externally.
  3. Don’t undertake a job role you are ultimately under qualified for - i.e management role deems responsibility for sub-ordinates & their decisions.
  4. Clear and finite design consultant scopes & ensure they are competent in areas they are contracted to.
  5. Importance of thorough workmanship.
