A

Traditionally poor, housing most of London’s ‘noxious industries’ even back to pre-industrial revolution.
In the early 19th century rail routes crossed the area, so heavy industry grew - encouraged by links to the Thames.
Destroyed in the Blitz and became a focus for council housing.
