what is the procedure for assistance dog transport?

Answer 1

• identify assistance dog through any of the following
  > an assistance dog badge or medallion
  > an assistance dog harness
  > a coat/cape/vest identifying them as an assistance dog
  > an assistance dog ID, pass, or permit
  > if none of the above is available we can ask for evidence that the animal is an assistance dog
• animal to be transported wherever possible if requested by patient but will be protected if animal is not transported as patient is time critical and transporting delays treatment
• transport
  > stretcher and patient first
  > move attended seat as far forward as possible
  >prompt dog to enter rear of ambulance
  > tether located underneath airway seat is attached to harness/collar and then to tracking in back of ambulance
  > not to travel in footwell, only to travel in ambulance
  > contact TL if not transporting, notify hospital if transporting with assistance animal
