  • Impact of Cholera – dehydration and discolouration of skin.
  • Spread of cholera due to dirty water.
  • Other diseases such as TB, Typhus, Smallpox.
  • Poor living conditions/Poor ventilation meant disease could spread easier

Improvements to living conditions

A
  • Regular refuse collection (bins) meant waster was out of the street and didn’t lead to rats and disease.
  • Street lighting, safer for people to be out and about.
  • Gas/electricity brought to homes this would lead to better quality of
    homes, heating, cooking etc.
  • Public baths were introduced – better hygiene.
