A

A

Examples: Medicines Regulation 1984, sits under the Medicines Act 1981. Code of Rights is a regulation under the Health and Disability Commissioner Act.

What is the purpose of the HPCA Act (2003)

A

The general public is protected by ensuring:
1. Only health practitioners that are registered under the Act are able to use the titled provided e.g. Registered Nurse.

  1. Registered health professionals are not permitted to practice outside of their scope of practice.
  2. Regulatory authorities will be required to certify that a practitioner is competent to practice within their scope of practice when they issue an annual practicing certificate.
  3. Certain activities will be restricted and will only be able to be performed by a registered individual.
