Prepositions with temporal meaning in the dative case
Vor vielen Jahren ( many yrs ago) Nach (after) Von...bis. (From .... Until, to) Zwischen ( between) In ( future) in einem Jahr

If an activity started in the past and continues presently, use seit.
To indicate a time period contained only in the past, do not use Für…put the expression in accusative:
Ich war eine Woche (long) in Berlin.
