. Purgatory is seen as the cleansing or purification of the soul in order to make the person ready and fit for heaven

. The pain brought with the realization of their sins will purify them to achieve the holiness necessary to enter the joy of heaven

. It is not a person’s final destination, but rather a temporary state

. Almost all the others recognize only 2. This is because they believe that it is clear in the Bible that Jesus only instituted Baptism and the Eucharist
