They speed up fermentation making reaction occur faster and they work best in a warm environment

How do you make bread

A

Flour water and yeast are mixed
the dough is then left in a warm place
the yeast respires changing the sugars in flour into ethanol and carbon dioxide
the carbon dioxide is trapped as bubbles which makes it rise
Then baked the ethanol evaporates the bubbles of gas expand making it rise further

Explain how to make beer and wine

A
  1. the plant sugar is added to a large container which is then crushed
  2. yeast is added to ferment sugar the container is sealed to keep out oxygen and other microorganisms
  3. the mixture is left until the sugar has fermented into alcohol
  4. sediment is removed in the liquid by firming filtration the liquid is bottled and ready
