Q

What7 characteristics do all living organisms share? Define them. (All definitions of seven) MRSGREN

A

Movement: An action by an organism or part of an organism causing a change in position or place
Respiration: Chemical process inside cells that break down nutrients to release energy for metabolism
Sensitivity: To be able to react to and detect changes in the internal or external environment
Growth: Permanent increase in cell number or dry mass or both
Reproduction: Making more of the same type of organism
Excretion: Taking out of wasted materials or materials in excess of development
Nutrition: Intake of food that releases nutrient molecules for energy, growth and development.

Q

How can organisms that share recent common ancestors be identified?

A

Anatomy: By tracing similarities in internal body structures for example, bones
