what is a design specification?
it is created from a design brief after research and outlines all the essential and desirable criteria/characteristics of your product
what is the product specification?
something that outlines the materials and equipment that is needed to make the product in the prototype stage
when is a manufacturing specification made?
after the product has undergone final modification- all the changes to make sure you know what materials, components and equipment you are going to use in the final product
what does the manufacturing specification have in it?
the material and equipment lists and also all of the tasks that need to be completed in sequence step by step (a step by step guide to how the product will be made/manufactured )
to evaluate a product what do you need?
your design specification
why is your design specification needed when evaluating your product?
-to make sure it fits the criteria in the design specification
-make sure it is fit for purpose
-make sure it is suitable for the target market
-make sure it is safe to wear
-to see and make sure it is well made
what is quality assurance?
ensuring that the quality of a product is maintained- the quality needs to be checked when it is being designed, manufactured, and at the end of manufacture
what does quality assurance make sure?
that the product is high quality and fit for purpose
what is primary data?
data that you have collected for yourself first hand through things like interviews and questionaires
what is secondary data?
data that you have gotten from somebody else or from another source such as online, in a book, website ect
what is market research?
analysing products that are already on the market to get inspiration and design ideas
what are ergonomics?
the study of human interactions with products
what are anthropometrics?
the measurements of humans, such as height, weight, size and reach
