Prior to entering or taking off in the ADIZ, what do you need?
A flight plan or itinerary (but an itinerary must still be filed with ATC, FSS, or Community Aerodrome Radio Station (CARS)
What demensions does the ADIZ have?
From the surface to an unlimited height
For VFR aircraft, after taking off from your last point of departure to fly into the ADIZ, what must you do?
As soon as practicable after take off, communicate by radio to ATC or FSS or whoever, your position, altitue, aerodrome of departure, and estimated time and point of entry into the ADIZ.
Within what margins must you update your flight plan when flying into the ADIZ?
+/- 5 minutes of the estimated:
- Reporting point
- Point of entry or point of destination
+/- 20 NM of the estimated:
- Point of entry or centerline of route of flight indicated on the flight plan
What does ESCAT stand for and what is it?

It is the ‘Rules of War’ plan and its what was enacted when 9/11 happened
When ESCAT is being enforced, we are no longer being monitored by Nav Canada. Who is monitoring instead?
The NORAD Commander
When flying in uncontrolled airspace VFR, what must you do once you hear ESCAT has been implemented?
Report every 30 minutes and comply with any instruction from ATC or FSS, as NORAD will be issuing directions through them.
You are also required to land at the nearest aerodrome
