Eternal Generation and Procession: Biblical Evidence and Importance

the Son is eternally generated (begotten) of the Father (John 5:23-24); the HS is eternally in procession from the Father (John 15:26). Eternal is very important, allowing both to be God. More to the function of HS as proceeding from God.

29
What are Primary biblical evidences for the doctrine of the Trinity
(answer)
30
Why in the incarnation did the Son not absolutely, publicly prove he is God
(answer)
31
is mary the Mother of God? How would you persuade a Roman Catholic not to pray to Mary
Mary is the mother of God in the sense of growing and berthing the child Christ. Mary is the form of humanity needed for the hypostatic union of God and man and no more than that. Later text goes on to prove her sexual relations with her husband disproving perpetual virginity. Mary sinned. She recognized her need for a savior.
32
Describe the Intratrinitarian relationships in the NT
(answer)
33
Was the earliest church Trinitarian? Why or Why not?
Yes. In recognition that christ was God through his teachings about himself. As well as the acts of the Holy Spirit. If anything is on the lower end it is the acts of the Holy Spirit in deity.
34
Modern Christologies: Harnack
The Gospel has to do with the Father only. The human soul so ennobled that it can and does unit with God.
35
Modern Christologies: Barth
Placed Jesus as the cornerstone for all theological knowledge (Father, Holy Spirit, etc.). Early on gave Deity more favor to Christ and later focused on the perfect manhood of Christ. Stated that there is clear distinction between the two natures of Christ.
36
Modern Christologies: Bultmann
Useless to get behind the story form of the NT. We can not know the Jesus of the Bible because it is shrouded in myth, but myth can be used as a guide to our own self knowledge. The bible story did not happen, but we can adapt the principles of the story to our lives.
37
Anhypostasis
"not a persona on its own" The human nature would not have existed without the incarnation of the divine nature; the Son assumed a human nature, not the personality of a specific human being.
