These are a group of cells which are similar in structure and work toward a common function. There are 4 primary types which are nervous, muscle, epithelium and connective.

Nervous Tissue
A
This tissue type is involved in communication and control. It is highly cellular containing 2 types of cells which are neurons and neuroglia.

Muscle Tissue
A
This is an excitable tissue which is contractive. It is involved in the movement of the body and organs, stability and heat generation. There are 3 types which are skeletal, cardiac and smooth.

Skeletal Muscle
A
This is voluntary, striated, cylindrical and long muscle.
