What does it mean if someone is a person of interest in a criminal investigation?
refers to someone in whom the police are “interested”, either because the person is cooperating with the investigation, may have information that would assist the investigation, or possesses certain characteristics that merit further attention.

Polygraphs measure physiological arousal factors, including heart rate, blood pressure, respiration, perspiration, and skin conductivity. The theory of the lie detector test is that these physiological responses will be different when the subject is truthful versus when the subject lies.
