21
Q

Difference between Interior Communications (IC) systems and IVCS circuits?

A

IC apply to alarms (bilge, CO2) and announcing systems; IVCS is a station to station communication system

22
Q

How should telephone talkers document messages?

A

Talker log with standard DC plotting symbols; repeat every message word for word, do not paraphrase

23
Q

Components of a message

A

To whom, from whom, about what

24
Q

Standard telephone talker phrases

A

“All stations,” “Say again,” “Silence” (DCA may reserve the right to sue this command or may permit a station with a priority order to use it)

25
Q

How does the DC comms chain of control function?

A

Each ship shall designate a DCRS as a secondary DCC, a complete succession of command of DC should be posted in each DCRS (the physical location of each station, seniority of the Repair Station Officer, and the comms facilities available should be considered when designating succession to command)

26
Q

What kind of info should be included in the DC Comms Bill? Why is one recommended?

A

Lists circuits alphabetically with the location of associated outlets (when prepping alternate circuits recognize that all telephones in a circuit are connected in parallel so if al one telephone, cable, jackbox, etc short circuits, all comms on the circuit will be lost unit the affected portion is isolated)

27
Q

Major communications subsystems

A

sound powered phones, IVCS, ship service phone, announcing systems, intercommunication systems, DC Wirefree Comms (WIFCOM)

28
Q

What does IVCS stand for?

A

Interior Voice Communications System

29
Q

What circuits are classified for emergency purpose?

A

X40J (pumpkin line), Z50J (Fog foam circuit)

30
Q

What type of ships have 6JV (ballast control) circuits?

A

combatant/auxiliary type ships that are equipped with a ballasting/deballasting system

31
Q

Where are the G system bells installed on the ship?

A

pilothouse, aux steering station, each deck office, all living/working/recreational areas
