Q

How do you calculate population density

A

Through multiple methods like Quadrats, mark and recapture, and sometimes just counting.

Q

How do you measure pop density through Quadrats

A

You count the amount of organisms in the quadrat, then find how many quadrats fit into the total size of a area, then multiply that by the population in a quadrat. Works best with uniform populations.

Q

How do you calculate using mark and recapture?

A

You mark a certain amount of animals then release them into the wild. Then capture random animals, find how many are marked and how many are not. Multiply the original few you marked and the unmarked, then divide by the amount of RECAPTURED marked organisms.
