Q

How has the change in social attitudes affected the rate of First Time Marriages?

A

DECREASED

Mitchell and Goody argue it is no longer seen as essential to be married to your partner to be able to live with that person.

It is argued by many that this change is due to secularisation

Postmodernists argue that we are now focused on ourselves and therefore don’t feel the need to get married- now interested in self-gratification not trying to please others.
