What is reverse discrimination?
discriminating against a majority
What is the definition of racism?
prejudice and actions that discriminate based on race or hold one race inferior to another
What is institutional discrimination?
unjust and discriminatory practices employed by large organizations that have been codified into operating procedures, processes, or institutional objectives

What is the definition of scapegoats?
people at whom displaced aggression is directed
What is illusory correlation?
perceived correlation between two things even when none exists
What is self-fulfilling prophecy?
when stereotypes lead a person to behave in such a way as to affirm the original stereotype
What is stereotype threat?
refers to a self-fulfilling fear that one will be evaluated based on a negative stereotype
What is ethnocentrism?
the tendency to judge people from another culture by the standards of one’s own culture
What is cultural relativism?
judging another culture based on its own standards
What is the definition of group?
collection of any number of people who regularly interact and identify with each other sharing similar norms, values, and expectations
What are primary groups?
groups that play a more important role in an individual’s life; usually smaller and include those with whom the individual engages with in person
What is a secondary group?
larger and more impersonal group that may interact for specific reasons and for shorter periods of time
What is an in-group?
group that an individual belongs to and believes to be an integral part of who she is
What is an out-group?
group that an individual does not belong to
