Etomidate MOA:
-Produces depression of the CNS
-Produces anesthesia
Etomidate indication:
Procedural sedation for intubation
Etomidate contraindication:
Known hypersensitivity
Etomidate Adverse effects:
-Respiratory depression
-Respiratory arrest
-Laryngospasm
-Hypo or Hypertension
-Tachy or Bradycardia
-Involuntary muscle movement
-Nausea, vomiting
Etomidate Routes:
IV, IO
Etomidate Onset of action
10-20 seconds
Etomidate Adult dosages:
0.2-0.6mg/kg over 30-60 seconds
Etomidate PEDS dose:
-Older than 10 years old: 0.2-0.4mg/kg over 30-60 seconds
-Max dose 20 mg
Succinylcholine trade name & supply:
-Anectine
-Vial
Succinylcholine classes:
-Neuromuscular blocking agent
-Paralytic
Succinylcholine MOA:
Inhibits neuromuscular transmission resulting in temporary paralysis
Succinylcholine Indication:
Procedural adjunct for intubation
Succinylcholine Contraindication:
Known hypersensitivity
